Plate Legs from Milan

Plate leg protection of Milan type. The knee guard consists of 5 segments, has a large fender in the form of a fish tail. "Avant Armour" ( also known as "Milanese Armor") is dated back to 1440-1445. It was made in the workshop of the Corio brothers near Milan. The armor belonged to a member of the von Matsch family, who owned Churburg castle at the time. Currently, the plate leg protection is exhibited at the Art Gallery Museum in Glasgow. Plate leg protection with knee guard shown here is made by hand and provides not only protection, but also good mobility.
