Great helm of Richard Pembridge

Great helm of Richard Pembridge, 1360-1370 is kept in the museum of Edinburgh. This helmet is only slightly different from the one kept in the collection of the Tower. Judging by these two helmets we can talk about a certain "English tradition": helmet’s crown is made up of two parts – a solid-forged crown and a small riveted "top". Pre-facial and occipital plates are "merged" into one, i.e. made from a single iron sheet, welded (or riveted in a hidden way) in the back. Being 3 mm thick (at least partially, according to Williams), it weighs only 2.6 kg.
