Visby Brigandine Type 1
Brigandine armor with pauldrons from Visby. Type 1, according to Todermann’s typology (armor № 1). Western Europe. Middle-second half of the XIVth century. It consists of 2-3 vertical breast plates, from 2 to 5 horizontal abdominal plates, and from 2 to 7 vertical plates that protect the sides and lower back. Brigandine armor of this type is the most popular among reenactors who optimize it for fighting by strengthening the upper back protection with horizontal metal plates.
